On October 22, 2014 both the Dana and Correia English Departments came together for a Professional Development Day. This day was to focus on several things:
1. How to choose appropriate texts in order to facilitate collaborative conversations amongst students. (Collaborative conversations is a district focus)
2. How to write appropriate questions in order to raise the rigor in the classroom and also to raise the rigor of conversations students are having with one another. Also what types of questions teacher should be looking at asking.
3. Aligning what type of things would be used to quantify a 20% listening and speaking grade in all English courses 5-8 grade.
